Your week ahead: October 7 through 13, 2026

This is the weekly What to Do in Central Florida guide, written for homeowners who want a real weekend without a big bill: free live music, festivals with a live band, farmers markets, volunteer gardening, plant-based potlucks, and Halloween season openings. This edition covers Wednesday, October 7, through Tuesday, October 13, and the October 9-11 weekend holds the strongest free lineup of the month.

For every event I state the honest cost. Where a ticket is required, you will see the price range and the official place to buy it. Where an event appears free, I say believed to be free and point you to the organizer's page to confirm, because details and tickets change without notice.

A note from Justin

The best part of living in Central Florida is that the calendar is never empty, and the best memories rarely cost a ticket. My advice as your neighbor and your agent: pick one free thing this weekend that gets you out with your people, and let the market do the rest.

If you are home-hunting, use the events to test neighborhoods: walk Winter Park's Central Park market, wander Independence Square after a band ends, and see whether the crowd at Avalon Oktoberfest feels like yours. That is research no listing photo can do. When you are ready to talk schools, lake access, or what a move looks like, I answer within one business day at 407.704.0420.
